Match Reports:-
Cardiff & UWIC D 1 - Abergaveny 2

Abergavenny came into this match with four wins from four games and may feel fortunate to have left with their 100% record still intact. The game was won in the first half with the vistors scoring a goal at the

begiining and end of the half, both with shots from close range. Cardiff though probably did enough  to warrant at least a draw as their belief grew in the second half. The introduction of Dale Hutchison into midfield caused Abergavenny problems on the break, as did Jason Durbridge up front. It was his cross that was turned in by Andy Lloyd to reduce the deficit, after he had previously hit the post. In the final fifteen minutes the Fifths had more shots on goal than both teams had managed in the previous 55, but a equaliser could not be found. While the result was a disappointment, the performance was not, with the team being able to show to the watching first team that good hockey is played throughout the club.

Cardiff Medics 3 - Cardiff & UWIC D 1

After three wins in the first three games, the fifths had their first set back of the season against a good Medics side. After a late start, due to the Medics's goalkeeper's car breaking down, the home side had the better of the early exchanges and took the lead midway through the first half with a flick from close range. Hard work and tenacious defending from the fifths kept them in the game at half time, and in the second half they start to craft some chances of their own, eventually equalising through Chris Beard at a penalty corner. However, Cardiff & UWIC's resistence wilted in the final ten minutes and two penalty corners converted by the Medics's best player (and comfortably the best player on the pitch), gave the hosts the win

Cardiff and UWIC 5th 8-2 Swansea Bay
The newly promoted fifth, with a few changes in personnel took their time to get going in their opening match at home to Swansea Bay. The two teams went into half-time with two goals each, but in the second half it was a different matter as Cardiff played some excellent fluid hockey, with new faces combining well with last seasons crop, with Christian Phillip-Adams forming a particularly usefully midfield partnership with Elliot Morgan.  Tom Cheeseman led the scoring with four goals, while newcomer Jason, also claimed a hat-trick. Elliot added the final goal in a comfortable 8-2 victory.
